Pull chord and Sway switched have been provided along the belt conveyor as a safety measure as well as for maintenance purpose.When any of these switches is operated, the belt conveyor stops and the conveyor cannot be restarted unless and until the pull chord/sway switch is reset manually.

When the pull chord/sway switch gets operated the control room operator cannot know which pull chord/sway switch has operated and manual inspection is carried out along the length of the belt conveyor (approximately 1KM long) to locate and reset the switch. The man has to report back to the control room to restart the conveyor.

This is a time consuming process and during this period the belt conveyor remains idle.

We have developed a solution to reduce the idle time of the conveyor belt. The system comprises of trip sensors at individual pull chord switches and a display unit at the control room to display which pull chord/sway switch has been operated so that the man can be sent directly to the operated switch to clear the fault and saving idle time of the conveyor belt.
